Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang International Football School on the picturesque Rungna Islet is a base for training reserve football players where schoolchildren with football bent learn and live to their heart's content.

The school opened on May 31, 2013 under the loving care of the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un, who personally chose the site and named it "Pyongyang International Football School".

After its opening, the respected fatherly Marshal visited the school to give instruction to train promising football players by raising the level of scientific teaching in conformity with the psychology and physiological characteristics of young students.

The school has steadily improved the contents and methods of education as required by the developing reality and thus trained promising football players.

Students of the school won the AFC U-14 Girls' Regional Championship 2016 for East Zone and the Children's Festival (East Asian region) and other international games.

Many graduates of the school are now distinguishing themselves as excellent organizers and scorers in prestigious sports teams and clubs at home.

Yu Jong Hyang and Kim Won Sim, who contributed to winning the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, the 2026 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup and the 2025-2026 AFC Women's Champions League, also trained their basic technical skills of football. -0-
